2. In short

BikeGeoLab works without an account or login. Without your consent no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. Fonts are loaded from our own server, not from Google Fonts or other third parties.

3. Hosting and server log files

When you open the site, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system (user agent) and the previously visited page (referrer). This is necessary to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). Log files are deleted after 7 Tage unless they are needed to investigate abuse.

Hosting provider: netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Str. 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Deutschland. A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with the provider.

4. Local storage in your browser

If you switch between the light and dark appearance, the site stores this setting in your browser's local storage (localStorage, key “theme”). It stays on your device, is not sent to us and can be deleted in the browser settings. This is necessary for the function you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

Your decision on Google Analytics is stored the same way (key “analytics-consent”) so that we don't ask again on every visit (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can change it at any time via “Privacy settings” at the bottom of the page.

5. Data you enter

Comparisons, the size finder and settings (saddle height, stem etc.) are calculated in your browser. The selected bikes and settings appear in the address bar so you can share links; they are not permanently linked to you.

With “Add a bike” you can have the geometry of a bike stored. It is published right away, marked “pending review”, and checked against the stated source later; we may correct or remove entries. Only the bike data you enter (brand, model, measures, source) is stored, nothing about you personally – please do not enter personal data there. A pasted table is sent to the server for parsing but not stored there. To prevent abuse, the server counts submissions per IP address for up to 24 hours, in memory only; the address is not written to the database or logs of the application (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in protecting the site from spam).

6. Google Analytics

With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG) we use Google Analytics 4 of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google may transfer data to Google LLC in the USA; the transfer relies on the adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as far as Google LLC is certified under it.

Pseudonymised usage data such as pages viewed (without the settings in the address), scroll depth, clicks on links to other sites, approximate location, device, browser and time on page is collected. Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off. Cookies are set for this. Consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future via “Privacy settings” at the bottom of the page or by deleting the cookies in your browser.

7. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 15–21 GDPR).
